There is no denying these restrictions are rooted in patriarchal control and white supremacy, and are carried out by dominant systems and institutions in ways that perpetuate discrimination and inequality through systematic oppression. We have traditional and natural systems of governing ourselves that have always been in conflict with the colonial obsession and objective of restricting autonomy and choice for anyone who is not a white, christian, land-holding man.
